De Beers Bursary 2026: Complete Application Guide
De Beers Group, the world's leading diamond company, offers a bursary programme for South African students pursuing qualifications in mining engineering, geology, metallurgy, and related disciplines. The De Beers Bursary provides comprehensive financial support and gives recipients first-hand experience of diamond mining operations in Southern Africa. Applications are accepted annually from August to November.
About the De Beers Group Bursary
De Beers Group was founded in 1888 and remains the world's foremost diamond producer and marketer. In South Africa, De Beers operates several mines in the Northern Cape and Limpopo provinces, as well as joint ventures in Botswana through Debswana. The company employs thousands of engineers, geologists, and technical specialists who extract and process some of the world's finest diamonds. De Beers has a long-standing commitment to skills development in Southern Africa and the bursary programme is one of the primary vehicles through which it attracts and develops technical talent. The company recognises that access to quality engineering and geoscience graduates is critical to maintaining its operational excellence in diamond mining. Bursars at De Beers have the unique opportunity to work at open-pit and underground diamond mines during vacation work, gaining exposure to geological survey work, blasting operations, processing plants, and mine planning. This practical experience sets De Beers bursars apart when they enter the job market.
