CSD Supplier Database Registration: How to Register
The Central Supplier Database (CSD) at www.csd.gov.za is the single national database through which all government departments source and verify suppliers. Registration is free and mandatory for any business that wants to supply goods or services to the South African government. All your compliance documents are verified online.
What Is the CSD?
The CSD (Central Supplier Database) was established by the National Treasury to consolidate all supplier information used by government departments into one accessible platform.
Once registered, your CSD profile is visible to all national, provincial, and municipal departments. Buyers can search for suppliers by commodity code and verify compliance status before awarding contracts.
Documents Required for CSD Registration
- CIPC Certificate of Incorporation or CK1 (close corporation) — company registration number required
- SARS tax clearance certificate or Tax Compliance Status (TCS) PIN
- Bank confirmation letter on the bank letterhead, not older than 3 months, confirming account holder name, account number, branch code, and account type
- B-BBEE certificate from a SANAS-accredited agency, or EME affidavit signed by a commissioner of oaths
- ID documents for all directors or members
- Proof of business address
How to Register on the CSD
- Visit www.csd.gov.za and click on Register.
- Create a user account with your email address and South African ID number.
- Log in and navigate to Supplier Registration.
- Enter your CIPC registration number to auto-populate company details.
- Upload all required compliance documents.
- Enter your business banking details and upload the bank confirmation letter.
- Submit the profile for verification.
- CSD will verify your details against SARS, CIPC, and banking records. This may take 1 to 5 business days.
- You will receive an email confirming your CSD registration number once approved.
CSD registration is free. Any person or company charging you a fee to register on the CSD is likely running a scam. Register yourself at www.csd.gov.za.
CSD Registration Fees
CSD registration is completely free. There are no costs for registering or maintaining a profile on the Central Supplier Database.
Be cautious of websites or individuals that charge fees to register you on the CSD. This is a common scam targeting new business owners.
Set calendar reminders to renew your tax clearance and B-BBEE certificate before they expire. Keeping your CSD profile active ensures you never miss a tender opportunity.
Maintaining Your CSD Profile
Your CSD profile must always reflect current and accurate information. When your tax clearance certificate, B-BBEE certificate, or banking details change, you must update your profile.
A profile with expired compliance documents will show as non-compliant and government buyers will not be able to award contracts to your business until compliance is restored.
